3 Types of Drug Tests
Paper Test Strips
Commonly referred to as Point of Care (POC) cup with paper strips on the inside of the cup. Paper strips are activated by liquid (urine).
Analyzer
An analyzer test monitors ‘classes’ of drugs in your urine.
Confirmation
A Liquid Chromography Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) test identifies every compound in the urine, based on each atom’s molecular weight.

CONS
– Easy to pass (Soak the paper strips with water)
– Wet test strips cannot absorb urine
– Inaccurate (energy drinks often test as illegal stuff)
– Most employers do not trust the results!
Analyzer Test

+ Employers use for drug testing
+ Typically $60 to $80
CONS
– Only checks “Classes” of drugs
> CBD tests as THC since CBD is in the Cannabis class
> Cold medicine will test as methamphetamines
Confirmation Test

+ Most accurate
+ Differentiates every compound in the urine sample
> CBD vs THC
> Cold medicine vs methamphetamines
CONS
– Expensive (Many labs charge $500 or more!)
– Time (typically 5-10 days to get results)
How it Works
1. Choose a test
Choose the Analyzer test to know what your employer will see if you are tested.
Or choose the Confirmation test to show you do not have illegal substances in your body.
NOTE: an Analyzer only tests "Classes" of drugs, so CBD test POSITIVE for THC on an analyzer test since they are both in the "Cannabis Class."
2. RECEIVE A TESTING KIT
A test kit is shipped to you by UPS (typically 2 business days).
Follow the instructions.
3. UPS the sample to the lab
The test kit includes a UPS shipping bag and pre-paid label.
Drop your sample in the UPS bag and place it in the nearest UPS drop box.
4. Receive your Test Report
The test report is posted in your online account as a PDF document.
This typically happens within 2 business days after the lab receives your sample.
